Meet the Innkeepers of

Greenwood Bed & Breakfast

About the Innkeepers: Linda and Raechel (mother and daughter) were both born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. After graduating from High Point University, Raechel stayed in the Piedmont Triad area and married a North Carolina native, Nathan. Linda grew fond of the South and Zydeco/Cajun Music after spending time in southwest Louisiana.

Both love to cook, decorate and entertain. So it only made sense for the two women to live in the south and do what they love.

We believe the Greenwood Bed & Breakfast is the perfect place to retreat from the hustle and bustle of life (whether it be for work or pleasure), but still only be a block away from an exciting downtown!

About the Inn: Our family has owned the Greenwood Bed & Breakfast for over 5 years, but many don't know that it has been a Bed & Breakfast for 26 years!

The house was built for GS Ferguson, a lawyer, and was eventually sold to Paul W. Schenck. His father, Judge David Schenck was instrumental in the development and establishment of the National Battlefield at Guilford Court House. The battlefield is the sight of the Revolutionary War battle where General Nathaniel Greene, for whom Greensboro is named, severally disadvantaged British troops leading to the end of the Revolutionary War. The Schenck family's prominence is apparent from his wife's family connection with William Howard Taft, which led to a visit from Taft to 205 N Park Drive and the correspondence in 1925 on Supreme Court Stationary, which copies are displayed in the foyer.

Some time in the 1940's the house was turned into 3 appartments; 2 shotgun apartments downstairs and 1 large appartment upstairs. Visits from those who lived here have given us some insight to the lay out of the house as an apartment, but the original lay out is very much a mystery.

In 1985 Joanne Green moved the original Greenwood Bed & Breakfast, from a rural area of Guilford County to 205 N Park Dr and opened the 4 bedroom inn with her mother. Since purchasing the B&B in 2005, we have updated the following:

*all bedding and linens including down alternative comforters & oversized bath towels * wireless internet * new 75 gallon hot water heater and a/c unit *pool filled in and stone patio in back yard * repainted guest bedrooms & baths * added business center & updated TV room *added online reservation system *updated and redecorated foyer and living room

We are happy that you selected our home for your stay. Please remember that we are a Bed & Breakfast Home, which means much of the furnishings and belongings you see hold personal value and are family heirlooms. We hope you feel at home and treat our belongings with the same care as you would treat your own.
